Training Workshop on Asset Seizure, Asset Confiscation, and Advanced Investigation Techniques
From 11–13 May 2026 in Thakhek, Khammouane Province, the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor, in collaboration with the International Legal Studies and Technical Assistance (ILSTA) and with financial support from the Government of Canada, organized a three-day training workshop on Asset Seizure, Asset Confiscation, and Advanced Investigation Techniques.
The workshop brought together prosecutors, police officers, state inspection officials, and international experts to strengthen knowledge and practical skills in asset tracing, seizure and confiscation, advanced investigative techniques, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), as well as inter-agency and international cooperation in criminal investigations.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Khamphat Somvorachit, Deputy Head of the Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor, emphasized that effective asset recovery is a key tool in combating money laundering, corruption, and transnational organized crime. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and best practices gained from the training to enhance the effectiveness, transparency, and integrity of criminal investigations and prosecutions in Lao PDR.
